Follow-up with TV4's interview with Rabiu and Jönköping's rescue service
Rabiu, 16, miraculously survived - was underwater for 22 minutes
Rabiu Rashid didn't just survive a drowning accident. He also came back to life again with no permanent injuries.
Despite being underwater for over 20 minutes and missing a pulse for over an hour.
Rabiu runs to the bath from soccer practice in Husqvarna. Rabiu has no plans to go swimming as he can´t swim but falls accidently from the bridge in to the water. Attentive bathers see this and call SOS 112.
The rescue service in Jönköping - First Responder - SAR - Fire Department was quickly on the scene. As lakes in Jönköping Municipality have poor water visibility, the Rescue Service in Jönköping has invested in underwater technology from BUVI Scandinavia, which provides a quick overview of the water in lakes.
This is extremely important as seconds count for lifesaving in a drowning incident. With this sonar equipment (Artemis SAR Sonar) they quickly located Rabiu and were able to start lifesaving.
With a sonar, objects are clearly visible even in poor water visibility. This is a Sonar image of a diver in a lake with poor visibility.
